Overview
Lecce is the main city of the Salento peninsula, the heel of the boot. City of art famous for its seventeenth-century baroque churches, wine and craftsmanship.
Walking through the streets of the historic center you will admire a great variety of palatial houses, evidence of a great tradition of refined local stone craftsmenship. You will be guided to the most representative baroque churches, such as Sant’Irene, Sant’Oronzo and Santa Croce. Another archaeological site of interest is the Roman amphitheater which is located in the historic centre, below street level.
