Overview

A few kilometers from the city, in the Murgia park south of Matera, where the Mediterranean scrub gets lusher, we offer a trekking route for lovers of outdoor walking.

Approaching the starting point of the excursion by car, the walk begins in the countryside among wheat crops that alternate with Mediterranean scrub, where the ravine appears in all its suggestive aspect.

The landscape is characterized by the presence of some ravines where there are many rock complexes used over the centuries for agro-pastoral purposes. Some of these are particularly suggestive because they are partially in ruins. Among the various caves, we could visit a rock church which still preserves frescoes on the walls.

Along the entire route it will be possible to observe splendid specimens of birds (mostly predators) and traces of wild animals such as wild boars and porcupines.
